The rules of evidence examined in this module are the rules which cover court proceedings, civil and criminal, which are applied when insisted on by the parties to litigation taking place in a courtroom. These rules are considerably relaxed in other forums such as in administrative tribunal hearings, but understanding the basic principals will assist in appreciating the process before tribunals.

The module with cover basic concepts and fundamental principles, rules of exclusion, the effect of the Charter, and methods of presenting evidence.  The focus of this complicated area of law will be appropriate to the practicing paralegal with regard to the legal principals and their practical applications.
