This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to; the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Canadian immigration laws and policies. Students will develop knowledge of Canadian immigration history, global immigration patterns, objectives of the legislation, the main criteria governing applications for permanent and temporary entry to Canada, the citizenship process and, the structure and role of CIC and IRB.
This is the introductory or overview course on topics concerning immigration application categories for temporary and full time resident status. Students will use the knowledge they obtain in this course to practice analyzing fact situations, determining advice and completing documents in later courses that focus on specific categories.
